J+J/Invision Entices Creativity with the Paper Craft Collection

DALTON, GA – Paper is celebrated for inspiring creativity and this is what the J+J/Invision product design team set out to do with J+J/Invision’s newest carpet collection – Paper Craft. This grouping of products gives a designer the ability to easily mix up patterns, texture and color to define commercial spaces while achieving an original design.

Each of the patterns - including Pulp, Maché, Maché Trace and Shred - were inspired by the art of paper craft, a concept which continues to be seen as an influencing trend in architecture, commercial interiors, art, design and fashion.

“The endless possibilities for shadows, folds, pleats and creases made when paper is manipulated into visually appealing works of art offers a perfect source of visual stimulation to render fresh carpet patterns,” said Miller.   “Shapes and structures can be angular and architectural when folded and pleated, but can also be soft and organic when torn or more gently maneuvered.”

Pulp, the more solid, base product of the collection, features a tip-sheared texture and was constructed to work in a variety of project applications. Pulp’s 32 color palettes range from neutral to vibrant. Each color was carefully selected to coordinate with many of J+J/Invision’s existing product lines in addition to many of the latest commercial-grade textiles currently in the marketplace.

Maché is a more textural pattern inspired by the surface of pressed craft paper layers that have been artfully molded together. It features a near-solid, fairly small, linear texture.

Maché Trace presents the same textural pattern used in Maché, but features either one, two or three bright, accent stripes strategically placed in each tile allowing for an even, yet random appearance on the floor.  Both Maché and Maché Trace are available in nine colorways. Maché Trace also features two accent color stripes taken from the Pulp color line.

Shred, the more dynamic pattern of the collection, was inspired by the visually erratic effect that long shreds of colored paper can create when layered together.  This visual can generate somewhat of an ombre effect which repeatedly proves to be a pattern trend in commercial textiles as well as in fashion and in consumer goods. By strategically placing 20 different Encore® SD Ultima® yarns in a level loop construction, Shred achieves color that shifts subtly across the width of each tile.

“The hue and value changes on the Shred tiles are intentionally placed to yield a visual dynamism uncommonly seen in carpet,” said Miller.

The ten colorways in the Shred line range from neutral taupes and greys to saturated reds and blues.  Each colorway intermingles and matches attractively with many of the product colors offered in this collection. All of the products in the Paper Craft collection are manufactured using 100% solution dyed nylon and are warranted under J+J/Invision’s lifetime warranty package - the Total Performance System™.

Each are backed by eKo® modular backing, a PVC-free backing that includes recycled content and offers closed-loop recyclability.  eKo is NSF 140-2007 Platinum Certified.
